Abiding in God’s
Word and Presence
Next Growth Behaviors

Abiding in God’s Word and Presence is a massive step in truly growing in our relationship with Jesus after encountering the life-changing truth of the Gospel. Abiding can be a confusing word. It might give off the idea of doing nothing. John 15 paints us a different picture –

“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”

Abiding here means to actively make Him our dwelling place. This is a very active word – how are we making His word and His presence our home? This starts with making a daily effort to make His word a priority and then spending devoted time in prayer and in His presence. We must abide in God’s presence and in His word in order to grow deeper with Him.
